India: Duty on manufacturing cost of country liquor increased to 2.13 times
The duty has been increased by the Indian government on manufacturing cost of country liquor to 2.13 times, from two times previously. The hike will earn India INR 3bn (EUR 39.93mn USD 44.85mn) extra. It will make the price of 180ml country liquor bottles go up from INR 47.49, to INR 50, to ease cash transactions. For those who use country liquor to blend with Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL), a larger bottle will cost INR 11 to INR 12 more. In the total sale of country liquor, 180ml bottles is highest at 75%.
