The Heart of the Storm
The Employee Service Association at MPS Lexington and MPS Greensboro, in North Carolina, recently combined their efforts to raise donations for the victims of Hurricane Matthew. The hurricane caused widespread destruction and loss of life throughout southeastern USA and many Caribbean Islands. The power of the storm, the strongest for over a decade, resulted in many people losing their homes or suffering from flooding, landslides or the loss of basic amenities.
Laura Boggs, Human Resources Generalist at MPS Lexington, said: “The generosity of employees has been incredible. Many people have been really moved by the images of the storm’s destruction which were really shocking. Over a couple of weeks employees at the sites have donated all they could to try and help. We’ve gathered shoes, clothes, food, water, money, books, school supplies, children’s clothes, toiletries, blankets, coats, spare bedding – in fact, whatever they could to help.”
The pictures show some of the employees involved standing alongside some of the items collected which filled a large trailer and a pick-up truck.
